Richard Frenette was born in Quebec City and has been an active member of the BHS since 1989 when he was introduced to this hobby by a fellow Frenchman, who happened to be the Director of the Montreal Island City Chorus.
Richard is currently a member of the 2013 International Champions, Toronto Northern Lights. He has been actively coaching quartets for several years and has recently added “coach” to his credentials at the annual Ontario Quartet Event, where he also directs the OQE chorus in songs.
Richard has been a section leader and Assistant Director in other choruses. He has sung in numerous quartets both male and mixed and will be representing the Ontario District in this year’s senior quartet contest at the Mid Winter contest and Convention held in San Antonio, Texas.
His passion is teaching tags to anyone who will listen. He will be teaching tags in San Antonio, Texas this coming January.
On a personal level, Richard is retired from Honda Canada Inc., where he was a technical instructor as well as a District Service and Parts manager for the Province of Quebec. Richard met his wife Stacy at the North Eastern District Men’s School down in Massachusetts. Stacy is also a barbershopper from Montreal, who happens to be a double queen with Harmony, Inc. Stacy sings in a mixed quartet with Richard, as well as in a competitive quartet in Harmony, Inc. and sings with Champion chorus, North Metro of Sweet Adelines International.
Richard’s hobbies are of course singing, skiing, motorcycling and home renovations.
